Sounds
We have decided we are going to switch between digetic and non-digetic sound this will be the sound of the people spekaing and the a slow intense heartbeat which is from the sniper man. Then after the assination celebrity the music will be a slow song to go with the slow motion effects we are planning to sue also to intensify the sad event which has just occured, as the sniperman slowly walks off leaving the crime scene behind.
Organisation and explanation of cast, props and locations
All 4 members of our group are going to play a part in our production the cast are as follows:
Bradley:
Body guard - His costume being suit, sunglasses and ear piece as your typical image of a bodyguard looks like and will represent the image of the charcacter well. He will be walking by the celebrity when he gets assasinated.
Rob:
Celebrity - He is going to wear smart but casual clothes and will be dressed in more pure colours to others to represent his 'importance from others, to allow the viewers to identify he is the celebrity especially when most of the camera focus will be his way.
Adam:
Sniperman - He will be dresse din black and other dark colours, with a case to carry his gun and possibly a hat. These colours will help camouflage him aswell as that the connotatiosn for black is: bad, dangerous, dull, unhappy. Showing and representing he is a bad person. He will have a replica sniper, possibly a bullet, and a hand gun. He will be in a small forest location in the backghround which we feel is a perfect place and distance for him to be when the assisination takes place this is because it is at a far distance but close enough to see on camera.
Dom:
Camera man - He will be doing most of the camera work as we feel he is the best at using the camera and this will be his amin focus point throughout the production.

Prilimenary Excercise
This was our first video we made for our prilimenary task. Our task was to create a video of somebody walking to a room talking to somebody else and collecting soemthing and leaving. We think we had done a good video seens as all we knew was very basic skills and rules of media. We kept it simple and used everything we knew, we feel we have edited it well.

Analysing a smiliar film - Vantage Point
In this trailer we can see how the camera flicks into different points of view showing you the whole where abouts, and the main characters in the film. It intoduces by opening with an establishing wide shot settignt he scene to allow the veiwer to see, whats going on roughly and where? The lighting seems to be quite bright this is maybe to allow you to see it is a happy environment and a good event is taking place. It then introduces you to the characters which seem to be the bodyguards which give you the impression somehting bad is going to happen as it focuses on them alot and their suspicious looking faces. We then get to see faces of some members of the public seeing there faces and we can establish for ourselves what we make of them and how we label them before we actually understand whats going on. Suddenley the president gets penitrated into the chest and we realise he has been shot as he calapses slowly to the ground. but we dotn know where the bullet comes from. In our film openingwe are going to seel the back of the snipest after the assination showing his silhouette but not revealing who the murder is.
Action/Thriller - Breif Idea
We have decided to change our genre of our film clip to an action/thriller as we have all came up with a good idea combining some of thwe previous ideas we had. We have changed our story line to a similar storyline to the film 'vantange point'. The breif idea is that we are goign to have a famous person opening a new housing estate on a building site, but unfortunatley they get assasinated, but does someone see the murderer? We then see teh murder packing away but enevr reveal his face! Does he get caught ? What was his motive? We have a small flashback and get a breif idea as to what is going on but it should leave the audience confused and usnure as to what is happening, making them want to watch the whole film. We decided to change our idea because we all felt more comfortable with this idea and all contributed part of the idea. Also because action and thriller was also one of the most popular with the audience we questioned.

Main project outline
Above is one of our initial ideas in detail. It shows almost every aspect of things we have to take into consideration before the cretaing of our film. We created this diea from developing our other intial ideas until we came up with one we all agreed and felt was a good and inventful idea to go ahead with.

Our Catergories

Suitable for all
It is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. But a ‘U’ film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over. ‘U’ films should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.
If a work is particularly suitable for a pre-school child to view alone, this will be indicated in the Consumer Advice.

Parental Guidance
General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children.
Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A ‘PG’ film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.

Suitable for 12 years and over

Suitable for 12 years and over
Exactly the same criteria are used to classify works at ‘12A’ and ‘12’. These categories are awarded where the material is suitable, in general, only for those aged 12 and over. Works classified at these categories may upset children under 12 or contain material which many parents will find unsuitable for them.
The ‘12A’ category exists only for cinema films. No one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult, and films classified ‘12A’ are not recommended for a child below 12. An adult may take a younger child if, in their judgement, the film is suitable for that particular child. In such circumstances, responsibility for allowing a child under 12 to view lies with the accompanying adult.
The ‘12’ category exists only for video works. No one younger than 12 may rent or buy a ‘12’ rated video work.

The Brief
We have been told to plan and research, and to create a 2-3 minute film opening. We should consider everything when deciding for example, the genre, what people want, props, storyline etc. We undertake this task with alot of research to help us and guide us along to make sure we are aiming for the right audience and the genre coems across clearly.
Analysing - Paranormal Activity
We have decided to go for a horror film due to our questionaire results showing that horrro was the one people wanted to see. Due to this I have decided to analyse a very successful horror movie Paranormal Activity.
The camera angles and the idea of the self filming puts a great eerie, unexpected feel on the viewer. You dont quite feel safe as it feels like you're actually there behind the camera experiencing it. This constantly puts you on edge addign to the horror effect. The lighting is mostly filmed in the dark and that is where all of the scary bits occur. This is because the dark is a connotation for scary, bad or evil etc. Also they have film it in a cinema to show other peoples reactiosn to it and to make you feel as if you are sat there experiencing it with them building up the whole atmosphere. Also it involves nightmares and a bed which is where nightmares occur. Also the sound plays a big part of setting the genre because of its fast paced loud deep bangs and beats makes it very scary and anticipating.

Analysing films
The genre I am analysing is Crime/Drama, a classic example for this is 'The Godfather'. The genre is given away by the codes and conventions in the opening scene of this film, because of many techniques used. The dark lighting of the room with the dim lighting revealing his disgusted face gives a sinister effect which makes it seem rather mysterious and eerie. They then talk about the police and it seems very suspicious to the viewer which gives away the genre of crime and drama. The techinical caterogry in the codesand conventions used are theclose ups on teh godfathers fast to show is the most important character and a powerful one. The symbolic methods used are the costumes used such as the godfathers tuxido, as he is the only one wearing a tuxido you can tell he is the important character and shwos his wealth and power. The colours that are used are very dull and only have light on the charcaters faces so you recognise them and see what they look like and establish which ones are the important ones. When its dark and dull, it allows the viewer to think there is something bad happening and its a connotation for bad and unhappy. This gives you the idea some sort of criminal act is taking place as that is usually linked with bad things. The low key lighting provides anxiety in the atmosphere for tension. This keeps the audience on edge and expecting soemthing. Another method is written, this is how they talk, teh man who speaks first who is visitng the Godfather seems to be quite angry and worked up and nervous like when speaking as he seems to speaking to someone in charge. The godfather seems quite suttle and calm but a mysterious voice.

Codes and Conventions of a film opening
In movie openings you will always have the
production logos and distribution logos
Of the main companies that work on the
movie. Depending on the budget of the film/hype
created for the film these logos will be edited in a
form related to the movie, such as in 300 the Warner
Bros logo is made to look like a shield and is worn
away and dirty. This is to reflect the story line of the
film.

The first 2 minutes of a film are very crucial part of the film, and although an audiance may not realise, it is where they find out alot about the plot and the characters. If the first two mintues are not too good quality, and do not ever signify characteristics or give off narative enigmas then they have failed to do what they have set out to do.
At the start of every film there is a title sequence this will tell you the key information about who produced and directed the film and the main star actors in the film and so on. Generally the opening shot of a film will be either an establishing shot or a blank screen with titles on. These titles can also be a way of building up suspense to teh audience or giving away a type of genre. Depending on how the film starts at this bit you get a strong feeling of what type of genre the film is going to be by the light, the colours used and the music played in the background. For example if it is very darka nd there is slow mysterious music in the background with red colours used you get the slight impression it may be a horror type of film. Some films may use the entrance and opening to introduce main characters and star acttors so you recognise them befor ethe film begins, this intises the viewer and gets them interested on learning more about these characters. Also this helps you to establish each stereo type in the film for example; 'the arrogant male', 'the busty blonde'.
Codes and Conventions
Codes and Conventions are techniques used by someone creating a video, song or a written piece. They are used to show someone exactly what you are trying to put across, and get them thinking hgow you want it to be shown.
The codes and conventions in media can be separated into 3 distinct groups -
- Technical (camera techniques & shots),
- Symbolic (ie clothing, colours)
- Written and audio (music etc).
These give the text meaning and determine the response of the viewer. They can be used as a basis for simple text analysis. So in order to compose any work related to media you should condier these carefully.

Continuity
In fiction, continuity (also called time-scheme) is consistency of the characteristics of persons, plot, objects, places and events seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time. It is of relevance to several media. Contuinuity is where you show whats happened over a period of time but you only show the bits in which the viewer needs to see to make sense to them but not the whole entire clip. Also its how things run smoothly so everything seems to be the same.
Shot reverse shot
Shot reverse shot (or shot/countershot) is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other. This is commonly used when the characters are talking to eachother.
Match on Action
Match on action (or cutting on action) is an editing technique for continuity editing in which one shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot. It shows the action in a clip without showing every detail but only the details you need to know to work out for yourself what has happened. For example you could be going on holiday and the only things that could be filmed is you at the airport, with a sign of your destination, then you on the plane, and last of all you in the airport at your destination. With only showing these few clips you can work out what has gone on inbetween without seeing hours of footage.
